Acts 20:35
“…remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Generosity has always been one of the clearest reflections of the heart of Jesus. In this verse, the Apostle Paul reminds the early church of something Jesus Himself said: there is a deeper blessing in giving than in receiving.

That truth runs against our natural instincts. We tend to hold tightly to what we earn, protect what we build, and measure security by what we keep. But the Kingdom of God works differently.

Generosity is not about the size of the gift—it is about the posture of the heart. When we give our time, our encouragement, and our resources, we step into the character of Christ. God is a giver. He gave us breath. He gave us grace. He gave us His Son. When we live with open hands, we declare that we trust Him as our Provider.

The most generous people are not always the wealthiest. They are often the most surrendered. They understand that everything they have has been entrusted to them, not owned by them. Generosity shifts our focus from “mine” to “His.” And when we live that way, we discover the joy Jesus promised.

It truly is more blessed to give.

Something to Pray

Lord, give me an open heart and open hands. Help me trust You as my Provider. Show me where I have been holding back, and give me the courage to live generously today.

Something to Do

Choose one intentional act of generosity today. Encourage someone. Give beyond what feels comfortable. Offer your time where it costs you something. Don’t wait for the perfect moment—create it. Live open-handed, and watch how God uses you to bless others.
