THE OFFERING THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
DEVOTIONAL SERIES
The Ultimate Giver

From the very beginning, God revealed Himself as a giver. He created the world and everything in it, and He entrusted it to humanity. He formed life and provided all that was needed to sustain it—water, food, air, light, and beauty beyond mere necessity.
Look anywhere in creation and you will see the generous heart of God—a heart that gives gifts not only to be enjoyed, but also to be stewarded for His purposes.
Throughout the Old Testament, God’s giving nature is revealed again and again. He gave promises, protection, provision, and His very presence to His people—only to be repeatedly rejected and forgotten. Yet, despite their rebellion, God continued to give grace, mercy, and forgiveness. His generosity was never based on their faithfulness, but on His covenant love.
This pattern of giving reaches its climax in Jesus Christ—God’s greatest gift—given so that we could have eternal life and a restored relationship with Him.
With a gift like Jesus, how much more generous could God possibly be? As the Apostle Paul reminds us:
Romans 8:32
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”
If God did not hold back His greatest gift, we can trust that He will not withhold what we truly need. And as we receive His overwhelming generosity, He invites us to reflect His heart in how we live, serve, and give.
You may consider yourself a generous person, but have you ever given at the cost that God has given to us? Have you ever offered what was most precious to you for the sake of someone who might not appreciate it? God’s generosity is not small, convenient, or occasional. It is sacrificial, constant, and overflowing.
When His generosity shapes our hearts, it moves us to invest in what outlasts us—in lives changed and in work that advances His Kingdom.
Oh, that we would grasp the depth of God’s generosity and allow it to shape our own lives. Where do we begin? We begin with gratitude. And from that gratitude, we become willing participants in what God is doing around us. His generosity toward us becomes generosity through us.
Something to Pray
Ask God to open your eyes to His generosity in your life. From daily provision to long-term blessings, from material needs to salvation and daily mercy—give thanks. Be specific. Then ask Him to show you how He might want to express His generosity through you. Pray for a heart that trusts Him enough to give freely and joyfully as He leads.
A Simple Prayer
“Lord, You are the ultimate giver. It is who You are; it is Your very nature. Thank You for the many blessings You have poured into my life. Help me not only to recognize Your undeserved grace, but to be a channel of that grace to others. Show me how You want me to participate in the work You are doing, and give me a willing and trusting heart. Amen.”
Something to Do
Make a list of the things God has given you and use it as a tool for ongoing gratitude. Then make a second list of the ways God might want to use you as a blessing to others—through your time, encouragement, service, and resources. Ask Him to show you where your generosity can help create opportunities for others to know Him.
