Shara Aston Schlitzberger
Shara is licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Mike Schumacher. She earned her Doctor of Educational Leadership in 2018 and her Masters of Counseling Degree in 2012 from Sam Houston State University, as well as her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas A&M University in Speech Communication in 2002. Shara has 17 years of experience in education, including 8 years of experience as a Professional School Counselor, working with children from Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
Dr. Shara Schlitzberger uses a combination of counseling approaches including cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and solution-focused therapy. She has experience working with children, teens, women, and families. She is a trauma-informed counselor and is passionate about helping clients who have been impacted by divorce, loss of a parent, and those who are in blended families. Shara has experience helping clients with a variety of issues such as making various personal decisions in their lives, relationship issues, ADHD, family conflict, school related issues, parenting, anxiety, and depression.
Shara is a firm believer that we all need a helping hand at times to make it through life’s challenges, and she believes in the power of therapy to help people overcome difficulties and find joy through a supportive non-judgmental atmosphere. Shara and her husband are raising a blended family. She loves to spend time with her family and close friends. She also enjoys traveling, going to the beach, her dogs, good food and music.
