Camp Sagemont is a week-long event for students grades 6th through 12th. Student camp takes place in at the Texas Baptist Encampment in Palacios, Texas. During this time we encourage students to encounter their savior through gospel-centered worship, teaching, and community. Students will get to engage with their peers during recreation, free-time, and theme nights. Camp is an experience your student will not want to miss out on!
What is the theme for the week?
Our theme for 2017 is to ensure your student has an awesome camp experience! However, our speaker will be walking us through Romans 12 during our evening session. Students will also have an opportunity in the morning to choose from breakout sessions from many of our staff on a variety of topics!
What are the lodgings for my student?
Students will be staying in gender & age specific bunk houses. These rooms contain bunk beds & featuring a community bathroom. There are also adults staying in the bunkhouses with the students. We strive for a minimum of 1 adult to every 10 children but we often exceed that number.
How will my student get to camp?
We will transport your student to and from camp in motor coaches. While at Camp your student will have no need to leave the campus.
Who is speaking?
This year we will be hearing from our very own Young Adult & Discipleship Minister, Tony Robinson. Tony is no stranger to our student ministry having grown up at Sagemont & served on staff for over seven years including time as a student minister.
Who will be leading worship?
Ryan DeLange is a husband, worship pastor, and songwriter/artist from Houston, Texas. Apart from serving on staff at Bayou City Fellowship, Ryan also leads at various retreats, camps, and conferences throughout the country. He is passionate about corporate singing, songwriting for the church, and shepherding the people that God has entrusted to his care. http://www.ryandelangemusic.com/new-page/
Who are the small group leaders?
Small group leaders will be comprised of our college students and adult leaders. As mentioned previously we strive for a minimum of 1 adult per every 10 students but we shoot to have even more than that! All leaders are 18 years or older and have passed an extensive background check process as well a vetting by our staff.
Does my student need to bring money?
All meals and events are fully covered by your camp registration fee. However there will purchase options during the following times. Free Time: there is a snack shack that is open that is run by Texas Baptist Encampment. Most snacks are in the $1-2 range. Souvenir Shop: is also run by Texas Baptist Encampment and is open during meal times. In their shop, they have TBE t-shirts and other items around the $10 range. Your student will be responsible for keeping up with their own monies.
Can I request my student’s roommates?
When you register your student you will be allowed to make 2 roommate requests. These requests must be the same gender AND the same grade. If the requests, follow both of these rules we will do our best to take this into consideration. HOWEVER, only one roommate request is guaranteed.
What shirt sizes are available?
TShirts are included with the cost of registration. These shirts are available in ADULT sizes from S-XXL and CHILDREN’S YXL.
What does my student need to bring?
You will receive a parent packet by email and there will be a larger all encompassing meeting for all parents on May 31st at 7:30PM in the HRA. Mark your calendars!
