Virginia Lara
Virginia Lara is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 40 years of experience. She holds a master’s degree in Family Therapy from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and is an approved supervisor for both LMFT and LPC clinicians in Texas. A bilingual Spanish‑speaking therapist, Virginia is an active member of Sagemont Church and attends Sagemont’s Hispanic congregation, Encuentro. She strives to live out founding Pastor John Morgan’s message: “Be living proof of a loving God to a watching world.”
Virginia has dedicated her career to serving at‑risk youth and their families in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She has extensive experience leading multifamily groups, workshops, and trainings on topics such as mediation, family‑of‑origin dynamics, domestic violence intervention, substance use education, anger management, decision‑making, and parenting. Her approach is shaped by decades of clinical work, including many years with Harris County Juvenile Probation.
Clients appreciate Virginia’s practical wisdom, deep compassion, and ability to create meaningful teachable moments. She often draws from her own life and family including her husband, children, and beloved granddaughter who continue to inspire her work.
