NEXT STEP PROJECT

Maximizing Spaces for Kingdom Impact

The Need

God is moving at Sagemont. We are seeing consistent growth in many areas of the church - growth that will need places to function. This current growth also fuels a momentum that we pray the Lord will sustain for as long as possible.

At the same time that we are seeing growth, we are also seeing some failures in our current facilities. HVAC, carpet, and other critical systems are aging beyond their usefulness. Waiting for something to fail completely will mean higher costs and ministry interruptions. Acting now is simply wise stewardship.

Modernizing and making our facilities more useful for ministry takes time to go from concept to completion. Design, permits, funding, and construction all affect the timeline, so we must anticipate tomorrow's needs today.

All images represented in this video or photos below are for conceptual purposes only. Final outcome may vary.

The Project
Phase 1: Worship Center & Lobby Update

This update is fully funded ($1M) and is due to be completed by Easter 2026. It will include new carpet, paint, technology, and other updates to make the space more welcoming and functional.

  • Welcoming Environment
  • Refresh & Repair Key Spaces
  • Modernize Technology
  • Unify Look & Feel
  • Improve Flow & Accessibility

Phase 2: Annex Remodel

The Annex at the corner of Hughes Road and Beltway 8 is mostly unused each week. It is a large building that could be utilized to increase ministry opportunities in a number of ways. Plans are to include recreational space for adults of all ages as well as space for the church to welcome the community. This phase is partially funded ($4.7M) and is due for completion by late 2026/early 2027.

  • Versatile Spaces
  • Serve All Generations
  • Engage the Next Generation
  • Renew & Modernize
  • Expand Helping Hands

Phase 3: Hughes Road Auditorium

This building is currently used weekly by our Spanish ministry, but the space is very large and could be better utilized with some strategic redesign. Completely gutting the interior of the building will allow for a new floor plan to accommodate not only the Spanish ministry, but also events, classrooms, and a unified staff office configuration. This phase is estimated at $12M and will be fully contingent on God's provision for its completion.

  • Revitalize Underutilized Space
  • Create Staff Continuity
  • Strengthen Spanish Ministry
  • Enhance Presence & Hospitality
  • Ensure Safety & Reliability

Phase 4: New 3-Story Ministry Hub

The oldest buildings on campus, the current Gym and adjacent offices and rooms, are sitting at the lowest point on campus in a flood plain. Because of this, they cannot be remodeled without raising the foundation and addressing a number of code issues previously grandfathered. Therefore, the only reasonable solution is to demolish the old and build new. This new space is planned to include a gym along with additional space for Sagemont Kids and other future expansion. The estimated $15-20M needed is fully contingent on God's provision and timeline.

  • Rebuild for Safety & Longevity
  • Facilitate Larger Teaching Venues
  • Multi-Story Hub for Impact
  • Enhance Outreach Through Gymnasium
  • Expand Children's Ministry

What Is Your Next Step?

First, we begin with prayer. Philippians 4:19 states, "And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We are not depending on what we can see or hold to complete this project. We are depending on God to provide as only He can. Ask God now how He might use you and your family to be a part of this chapter of the Sagemont Story.

Second, we'll be talking about generosity in the near future, with a look at what the Bible says about the subject. Right after Easter (April 5), we will be in a preaching series on Generosity for the remainder of April.

Then, on Sunday, May 3, we will celebrate First Fruit Sunday, where we begin this project in earnest by giving according to how God has given to us.

We have enjoyed the blessings and provisions of God through generations who have come before. Now it's our turn to step into the Sagemont Story. Take your next step and be a part of what is to come!
