Life can bring seasons of hardship, but no one should have to walk through them alone. The Helping Hands Ministry at Sagemont is here to offer practical support, encouragement, and the love of Christ to families and individuals in our church and community members within 10 miles of our church.
The Helping Hands Ministry consists of two avenues of assistance for families or individuals:
- Food pantry. We offer food boxes for those who need extra help with groceries.
- Limited emergency financial assistance with rent or utilities. Financial assistance appointments are on Thursdays only. Valid federal or state issued ID is required to apply for assistance. Utility bill or lease must be provided. The name on the ID and the bill or lease must match.
Hours for All Helping Hands Ministries:
Thursdays Only: 9:00am - Noon and 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: Sagemont Church - 11300 S Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston, Texas 77089. Park at Parking Lot J.
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS
We need your help! The food pantry is always in need of more food. All donations can be dropped off at the grocery baskets around the church or at the Sagemont Annex across the street.
The following items help us make one box of food for people who walk in our doors.
- 2 cans of vegetables
- 2 cans of beans
- 2 cans of fruit
- 2 cans of soup
- 2 cans of meat
- 2 cans of meals (Ravioli, chili, etc.)
- 1 Spaghetti Sauce
- 4 boxes of Hamburger Helper
- 1 bag of rice
- 1 bag of beans
- 1 bag of pasta
- 3 ramen cups
- 1 box of cereal
- 1 jar of peanut butter
- 1 jar of jelly
Imagine the impact we can make together. Through our Local Missions department, Helping Hands packs around 1,560 boxes of food every year. That’s 1,560 opportunities to reach out, not just with physical nourishment, but with spiritual support. Many of the individuals who receive these boxes do not attend Sagemont Church. They come to us in need, and we have the chance to be the hands and feet of Christ in their lives. This is more than just providing food; it’s about offering hope, building relationships, and sharing the love of Jesus with those who may have never stepped foot in our church. By supporting this mission, you are not only feeding bodies but also planting seeds of faith that can transform lives. Let's continue to be a beacon of hope in our community, reaching out to those who need it most.
WANT TO HELP?
SERVE
- Our ministry operates on Thursday only from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
- If these hours don’t fit your schedule but you’d still like to serve, send an email, and we’ll work together to find an opportunity that suits you.
WHAT WILL YOU DO WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER?
- Food Pantry: Stock shelves, prepare food boxes and homeless bags, greet visitors, pray with them, and share the gospel.
- Financial Requests: Assist people with filling out forms, gathering necessary paperwork, and providing resources to help with their requests.
PRAY
- Pray for those who come to us for assistance, that their mental, physical, and spiritual needs will be met and that they will grow in faith.
- Pray for our volunteers to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, bold in sharing their faith, and welcoming others into our Sagemont family.
- Pray that the Lord continues to send people our way and that more individuals become aware of the resources available to them.
WILLING HANDS QUILTING MINISTRY
This team of loving hands creates beautiful quilts that bring comfort and warmth to those in need—whether it’s families from our Clothes Closet, women served by Inspira (Crisis Pregnancy Center), or members of our homeless community. God has faithfully provided through fabric, gift cards, and financial gifts, allowing this ministry to bless others in tangible ways.
