A
message delivered to
the deacon body of
Sagemont Church on
Saturday, March 15,
2008 at the Danbury
Lodge, a retreat
center built for
Sagemont Church
under the leadership
of Dr. Hastings. The
beautiful lodge
project began in
1999 and was
completed in 2002.
Ninety-nine percent
of the lodge was
built with volunteer
labor. Pictures and
information about
this beautiful
15,286 square foot
lodge can be seen at
www.danburylodge.com.
This message charges
the deacons to hold
to the foundational
theology that has
been the bedrock of
Sagemont Church
amidst the two polar
theologies that are
rapidly being
embraced by sister
churches across
America. One
theology is very
restrictive, the
other is very open
and liberal, yet
both are dangerous
to cause of Christ.

The
Heart of Living Proof
Strategy of Sagemont Church
The mission of Sagemont
Church is “To be living
proof of a loving God to a
watching world!” To
fulfill this mission we
selected six words to use as
a strategy to help in
obtaining that mission goal.
To this end, each word has a
meaning and focus in our
mission. Like the human
heart, the left side of the
heart is all about taking in
and the right side is all
about sending out! The old
blood comes into the left
side of the heart where it
is refreshed and then sent
out the right side of the
heart. The three words -
Worship, Connect, and Learn
- are about providing a
place for you to take and
grow in the Lord. The three
words on the right side of
the heart – Give, Serve, and
Pray – are about you
ministering and giving out
what you have taken in.
In these six lessons we will
discover the Biblical truths
about each step in our
strategy.

Worship |
Jan 07, 2007 |
audio /
notes |
This lesson
looks at the
Biblical
instruction
concerning
worship. The
desire is to
answer questions
like, “What is
worship? Who are
we to worship?
How are we to
worship? What is
worship?”
|
|
Connect |
Jan 14, 2007 |
audio /
notes |
This lesson
looks at the
Biblical
instruction
concerning
relationships
and
righteousness
and show how
they relate to
connecting at
Sagemont.
|
|
Serve |
Jan 21, 2007 |
audio /
notes |
This lesson
discovers how we
are to develop a
servant’s heart
in our strategy
to fulfill our
mission.
|
|
Pray |
Jan 28, 2007 |
audio /
notes |
This lesson
peers into to
Bible and
presents a
unique and clear
picture of how
we are to pray.
|
|
Learn |
Feb 04, 2007 |
audio /
notes |
Learning leads
to knowledge and
knowledge leads
to wisdom. We
all desire the
true wisdom of
the Lord and
this wisdom only
comes from God.
|
|
Give |
Feb 11, 2007 |
audio /
notes |
In this last
lesson on our
strategy for
being living
proof of a
loving God to a
watching world
we focus on
giving. There
have been many
lessons on
giving in
Christianity but
this lesson
focuses on an
area of giving
not commonly
addressed by
Bible teachers.

CORE VALUES
Since the beginning of
Sagemont Church in 1966,
our Pastor has led this
church in a marvelous
way. Through these years
seven core values have
emerged that guide this
church in ministering to
people all over the
world. I have been a
part of Sagemont Church
sine October 1990 and
these core values have
become a part of my
personal life and my
public ministry. All the
people of Sagemont have
their own personal
understanding of these
core values. These seven
lessons represent my
testimony of how I have
seen these core values
have guided this
wonderful church!
You might want to print
the pdf’s for each
lesson and then follow
along as you listen to
the mp3 recording of the
class.
