"Her children rise up and bless her." Proverbs 31:28

Being a mom has been the very best job I've ever had! (If you knew how much I love being the women's minister here at Sagemont Church - you'd know that that is a huge statement.) Now, granted, I have not always felt like this. We all have our moments, even days, and dare I say weeks. For evidence sake, I have gone through the teenage years with one of my daughters. But the older I get the more and MORE I appreciate the role of mother that I have been blessed with.

Not only do I love being a mom - I love my moms. I have a great relationship with my mother and my mother-in-law. I know that I am VERY fortunate in that regards. I hope each of you can say the same for your situation. If not and she is still alive, there is time and hope. Although I don't know your circumstances, in most cases I would encourage you to pursue reconciliation. (Honor your father and your mother, that it may be well with you...Ephesians 6:2-3.)

As a lot of you are aware, we are currently fighting breast cancer in my mom. During a recent "tough moment", I attempted to lighten the situation at dinner with my parents by telling Mom that I would shave my head with her if she had to have chemo and if that would make her feel better. On the way home that evening my younger daughter wanted to hold my hand as we sang along to our favorite songs in the car. We were about half way home when she made the comment, "Mommy, you really love your mom a lot, don't you?" My response, "Of course I do, why?" "No reason Mom, but I want you to know that I would shave my head for you too." Finishing our drive home with tear filled eyes, I just thanked God for my many blessings!

James 1:17 says that "every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." I am very thankful for the gift of family! I have been blessed by godly women throughout my life. Starting with my Giggin (my brother could not say great grandmother), my Memaw and her sister, Aunt Gene, and my mother to my extended family at Sagemont Church - where I have many adopted "mothers" and "sisters". This month's newsletter is to all of you. I love you all and want to honor you. Your life is a testimony that inspires me and others to climb the heights of God's love, that encourages others to explore the depths of His love, and that stirs the hearts of others to embrace the goodness of His love.

During this month when women and mothers are honored, remember all the ladies who have positively affected your life and take a moment to thank them and our most precious heavenly Father! As stated in 1 Corinthians 13, love is the most important thing.

Thanking Him for you!

And I ask Him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all Christians the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. Eph. 3:18-19
