Welcome to PromiseLand!
A Special Place for Special Kids
|
|
|
Would you like to
serve our kids?
We have an opportunity
for you to minister to
children with special
needs! Leaders may serve
at either 9:30 or 11:00
AM on Sunday mornings,
each Sunday or on a
rotational basis. If you
are interested in caring
for these precious
children, please contact
PromiseLand Director,
Shallie Lucas, at
shallielucas@yahoo.com.
Training and orientation
are provided. |

Every child at Sagemont Church
deserves a place where she and he
can learn, grow and have fun!
PromiseLand is a fun and happy place
for children with special needs who
need a unique environment and
individualized learning activities.
Children with special needs have
exceptional gifts and lots of love
to offer our church and community!
At Sagemont Church, we want each
child to know that they are loved
and valued as God’s child and our
friend.
The Children
PromiseLand is the class for
children with special needs on
Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:00 AM
in the Green Wing, Room 177/179. The
children range in age from six years
to sixteen years old, and they all
function better in a specialized
class rather than being included in
a mainstream classroom.* In class,
they enjoy music, art, physical
activity, snacks (as appropriate),
and books. The materials in the
classroom are selected for children
with special needs, to assist their
learning and development. With the
guidance of a leader, children
individually study the Bible
curriculum taught throughout
AdventureLand on their developmental
and cognitive level.
If you would like to visit
PromiseLand,
please complete the Registration
Form and bring it with you
on your first Sunday. This will
better equip our leaders in serving
your children.
*The church works with parents to
determine if a special needs child
should attend a regular class or the
PromiseLand class. Our preference is
to include children in mainstream
classes if possible, but some
children benefit from the special
environment of PromiseLand.
The Leaders
The volunteers in PromiseLand are
committed to ministering God’s love
and truth to the children. Each
leader works individually with one
child, and they respond to the
special needs of that child. Leaders
guide children in activities, and
they provide quality supervision and
friendship to the children.
The church conducts an interview and
background check with all leaders.
Although many of our leaders have
education and experience in serving
children with special needs, some
simply have a desire to care for
these children. The church provides
leaders with training and guidance
in their service.
The Parents
As a parent, we have many
opportunities at Sagemont Church for
you! While we teach your child, we
want you to enjoy worship,
connecting with others and learning
the Bible. Worship services are
offered at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 AM,
and you can attend an adult Bible
study class through the
iConnect Ministry.
Sometimes parents want to see what
their children are experiencing in
different environments. Although
only screened volunteers are allowed
in the PromiseLand class, you can
watch your child through the
Observation Room between the
adjoining PromiseLand rooms. This
room is specially designed to allow
parents to check on their children.
Other Opportunities
In addition to Sunday mornings, we
periodically offer special events
for the children in PromiseLand
including fun nights, Vacation Bible
School, and even parties!
Information for these events will be
distributed through the PromiseLand
class on Sunday mornings.
