About Awana

More than 11,000 U.S. churches run Awana. There are clubs in all 50 states. Awana can also be found in 3,300 churches in 109 other countries and six continents...and Still Growing! The Awana program is a cross-denominational program designed to reach boys and girls with the good news of Jesus and to train them to serve him. Awana started in Chicago over 50 years ago and today it has spread to over 14,300 churches worldwide. The word Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15. "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Awana is a discipleship, Bible memory, and game program that reaches the whole child. We feel this is an excellent program to train our kids in Bible memorization and Bible based achievement, and help our children reach out to others who need to know about Jesus. Awana under girds the ministry of our Sunday School, Children’s Church, Children’s Choirs, Mission Programs and the mission of our church.  The clubbers receive recognition for saying verses, completing books, etc. with patches and awards. The clubbers move at their own pace and there is a strong emphasis on parents helping the clubbers study their handbook.

Our Club Night

We begin our club night as a group with an opening ceremony. Then we rotate the clubs through the Handbook, Counsel and Game times. Awards are earned individually for handbook progress and attendance. Recognition is given for participation in theme nights.

Handbook Time
Using achievement-oriented learning segments and Bible verse memorization, Awana training emphasizes the importance of God's word for sound living. Clubbers progress through handbooks, working individually and together with their leader.

Council Time
This is a general session for all members of a specific club. It's quality time for group Bible study. Special guests for this time may include: our Awana missionaries, someone who has gone on mission trips, Missionary in Training participants, clowns and other entertainers presenting the gospel.

Game Time
Game time provides team and individual competition centering around the Awana Game circle. Dozens of organized games get everyone's participation, unleashing natural energy and enthusiasm.

Cost
There is a cost to participate in AWANA Clubs for materials, uniforms and miscellaneous supplies. Weekly dues are also required.
