Over 20 years ago, Executive Pastor, Chuck Schneider asked Duane Lewis to begin a chemical dependency group to help church members deal with the difficulty of getting off of alcohol & drugs. Duane and His wife were looking for a new place of service and this was an answer to their vision for the same thing. We also speak with Chris Fowles on how he went through the Right Step program to deal with his dependency on meth.

The Gideon's world-wide ministry of placing the scriptures in hotels, libraries, prisons and in the hands of millions around the world. Sagemont Church has several members who are Gideons and they describe their work in this important ministry.

The story of Sagemont member Raul Gonzales is a story of a modern-day prodigal son. Raul, raised in a good home, in his high school years began running around with the wrong crowd and began to make bad decisions. He became involved with drugs and began stealing to support his habit.

Then on one night in December 2007, Raul was caught stealing and was shot in the head. The Lord miraculously protected him that night and he only suffered minor wounds. God now had his attention.

Ike Special

This program documents Sagemont's response to hurricane Ike's effects in the Southeast Houston area. Dr. Jim Hastings & Student Pastor Scott Condict lead teams from the church in helping both church and non-church members deal with the after effects of Ike.

Shirley & Frank Sipps/You Shall Not Kill

Shirley has endured a lot in her life; molested at 6, raped at 12, beaten and hospitalized during an abusive marriage, stabbed in a parking lot and finally suffering with several chronic diseases as a result of the attack.

Throughout these trials, Shirley and her husband Frank, have shown the Lord's patience and forgiveness.

Bill Cole tells his story of his upbringing and how, even though he was in full-time ministry, he realized that the most important thing was that he needed Christ. Bill also describes how we are to be worshipers of God everyday in everything we do.

Treva Douglas/Ike/Profaning God's Name

In September of 2008 after Hurricane Ike did it’s damage to the Gulf Coast/Houston area of Texas, several people were displaced by storm damage to their homes. Many were not able to clean or organize their homes. Sagemont Church sent a Helping Hands team to the home of Treva Douglas and Helped her to clean her home and dispose of damaged furniture, carpeting and sheet rock.

Zambia Mission Trip/Commitment or Denial

In 2007, 16 people from Sagemont Church went to Mfuwe Zambia to continue a mission work there of starting several churches. This most recent trip included a Leadership/Bible conference to help the local leaders to be better equipped to direct their churches. There are also interviews with some of the team that went and they share their personal experiences of being “Living Proof” of Christ’s love.

Medical Bridges / Choosing Humility

We visit a medical charity in Houston called Medical Bridges. This group relies heavily on volunteers in its mission to recycle and repurpose donated medical supplies from hospitals, doctors offices, nursing homes or from individuals that are almost expired or opened and unused but not able to be used in the United States. They supply hospitals, clinics and doctors in over 80 countries around the world. Sagemont Church has a group of over 25 dedicated volunteers that work several times a month there. Sagemont’s volunteer leader to Medical Bridges is Nancy Brooks, a retired RN from Methodist Hospital.
