Gas Giveaway/Sacrifice That Is Rewarding

Sagemont always tries to show Living Proof to everyone, on a day in June of 2008, we tried to show it in a tangible way by giving away 500 gift cards for gas at a local supermarket. This not only affected the people of our own neighborhood, but those who were giving away the cards and pumping the gas.

Sagemont member Michelle Gardner was happily married to Michael. In 2003, they discovered he had cancer and until his recent death, they dealt not only with his illness and pain but also with the struggle of knowing where God was in the midst of their suffering. As Michelle says in her story, “I’m not giving up on God because He’s not giving up on me.”

Recently, Sagemont & the Less Than The Least Prison Ministry took a trip to the Darrington Unit of the Texas Department of Corrections. Since it was a Sunday, there was a service in the chapel. Chuck Schneider spoke and several of the volunteers helped to lead in worship. Before the service, several of the inmates wanted to give a personal message to those of us on the outside. They all warned about the consequences of making wrong decisions, rebelling and especially the freedom they found in Jesus Christ.

A Mandate From The Master January 06, 2008 Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:7-8 The most important entrustment of the Lord to His disciples is the gospel message. Jesus gave His last commandments instructing His disciples to go teach all they had learned to the new followers and, by doing so, make them disciples. No one can be a disciple of Jesus and not know and obey His commandments.

Several of these things are also complicated by our own emotional baggage that we bring into the ministry. Every quarter Sagemont offers a conference just for ministers who are facing crisis in their ministry or their own home life. This conference is also offered for people who want to learn how to avoid these things before they are burned out. Dixon Murrah and a pastor who graduated from the conference are interviewed.

RV Club/Trinity Pines/The Waiting Father

God can use anyone doing almost anything to reach the lost. Sagemont’s RV Club goes to the Trinity Pines Camp on Lake Livingston every year to do landscaping, repair and construction projects. The club has just asked to be a servant and to bless the staff there at the camp. By the club and other groups volunteering throughout the year, the camp save hundreds of thousands of dollars in labor costs of hiring the work out. This savings allows the donations to the camp to be spent on the ministry of the camp in reaching the lost for Christ. As the director of the camp said, “They found out what God was doing and they got in on it…”

Daniel Pursley/The Truth About Sin

Sagemont staff member Daniel Pursley at the age of one, was taken, along with his young brother to his Grandparents’ home to live after his mother and father split up. His grandparents were very godly people and raised Dan and his brother. After accepting Christ at the age of 8, Dan began a long drifting away form the Lord. In his late teens, he began reading his Bible every day knowing that it would bring him back closer to the Lord. It did! And what a change to his life it brought. And what Satan meant for evil, God meant for good. Dan, while at work, is responsible for the audio recordings of our services, but away from here, he’s actively involved with street ministry and witnessing to others of what Christ has done in his life.

Breedlove Quads/If You Knew The Gift of God

This story is one where one person at Sagemont heard of a need and then developed an entire team to help. A family where the mother had just recently given birth to quadruplets, was in great need of help with caring for the 4 preemies and a 15 month old brother. This team has helped the Breedlove family for almost 3 years now and has shown them God’s love in caring for their children.
