Evelyn Husband’s life was suddenly changed when her husband, Rick Husband’s space shuttle Columbia was destroyed on reentry. She discusses her faith and how Sagemont has helped her and her children to strengthen their walk with the Lord.

This program highlights the Son Light Pet Ministry of Sagemont Church. In this package, we meet several residents of a full-time care facility and members of the Pet ministry team and see how the love of Christ is shown by the volunteers just taking a few moments to let the residents meet their pets and allow the pets to meet them.

Former Sagemont member, Julie Stobbe, tells the story of her life as an adopted child and through her life experience of meeting her birth mother and becoming an adult led her to begin a adoption awareness ministry called “Act of Life.”

In a chance encounter, Sagemont Member Sharon Phillip discovers the wish of a injured veterans mother. Her wish is that her son would receive a hero’s welcome when he came home from the hospital. Sharon took this on as a personal project and showed “Living Proof” to this veteran and his mother when they needed it the most.

The freedoms we take for granted every day are under assault. Speaking freely to someone about our faith in Jesus, being able to have Christmas parties in schools and weather an unborn child has a right to live. The Sagemont supported Free Market Foundation and Kelly Shackleford are in court rooms across the country defending our constitutional rights.

Don Coontz seemed to have it all, family, his own business, a former football star, but he was missing the one thing that would have made sense to his and his family’s life. In a time of crisis in his marriage, a friend recommended Sagemont’s counseling ministry. His family was never the same.

Denise Elliott and her husband for several years tried to have children. It was discovered that due to some surgery she had as a baby, she would never be able to conceive. She began spiraling down to a deep depression and when she reached bottom, God was finally able to get her attention. Through a visit by her brother-in-law, he was able to share Christ and she received Christ as her Savior. She and her husband were encouraged to visit Sagemont. 10 days after being baptized here, she and her husband conceived their first child, Matthew.

Tim Donham was by all appearances a successful businessman and family man. He accepted Christ at an early age but fell in with the wrong crowd. After getting married, he and his wife had 2 sons. Through his own behavior, he eventually caused his wife to leave him. In the time after she had left and divorced him, he began to drink heavily and eventually got involved with a cult. He also got his sons involved too. Through mistakes made with trust laws, he spent 5 years in prison. The Lord finally had him in a place where could get his attention. He recommitted his life and prayed for restoration. God did restore his business and his sons were delivered from the cult. After getting out of prison, he and his new wife were looking for a church home. After visiting for several years, he and his wife joined the Sagemont family. He’s now involved in the Men’s ministry.

If you know Buddy Griffin, you know the infectious smile, a ready joke and man who can make everyone laugh. But for over 60 years, Buddy had hidden a deep wound from his childhood. His father caused this wound. His father was a workaholic, driven, demanding and very heavy handed with discipline. Buddy thought he could do nothing to please him, so he tried even harder. Space is too short to tell the entire story, but through a men’s conference and a “chance” meeting with pastor and author Robert Lewis, Buddy stepped out with God’s help and guidance, way past his comfort zone and reconciled with his father. Their relationship was miraculously healed!

This is the story of Bettie Tolar, a woman who for over 20 years turned her back on the Lord. She lived as an agnostic. She didn’t know she needed a personal Savior, didn’t know the truth and was discouraged from it. While there was no great and terrible event that drover her to Christ, she had a loving family that prayed for her and a Christian daughter that attended Sagemont Church. She invited Bettie to an Easter service where Stuart Rothberg showed the Christ in the Passover. The service made such an impact that she began attending regularly. After a short time, Bettie realized that she needed Christ! And as she says, “What a change He’s made!”

This simple story of the Student Ministry of Sagemont shows how not only how we minister to students but how we prepare them for life. We show what journey is and what Journey does by taking students on a weekend journey to discover more about the Christian walk. This weekend is intense with Bible study, worship, teaching and activities to prepare students to not only show their faith through their living, but to speak about their faith to others. This segment shows the 40 days before Journey where the students committed to fast from something that took time away from the Lord and then use that time in prayer and petition to the Lord to move in a mighty way during Journey. Students are also asked to bring their lost friends so that they begin their own journey to Christ.
