Connect With
Christ
Connecting with
God! At Sagemont Church, this is our
goal. We think a lot about it and
hope you do also. It is the purpose
for which we were created.
Have you tried to connect with God
before? You probably ran into a wall
of sorts. It is called “sin”. In
short, sin is anything contrary to
the will of God. Sin characterizes
us all. In fact, the Bible says:
“For all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
So if you are trying to connect with
God, you have a problem. Sin
separates us from God. Listen to
this:
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so
short that it cannot save; nor is
His ear so dull that it cannot hear.
But your sins have made a separation
between you and your God, and your
sins have hidden His face from you
so that He does not hear.” (Isaiah
59:1-2)
As if this isn’t bad enough, sin not
only separates us from God now, it
also leads to eternal separation
from Him. This is a kind of
spiritual death. You see, “For the
wages of sin is death, but the free
gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans
6:23)
WAIT! Did you notice the word “but”
in that statement? “BUT the free
gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.” That’s GREAT
NEWS!!
Though you cannot, on your own,
connect with God, God Himself
provided a connecting link for you.
“For Christ also died for sins once
for all, the just for the unjust, so
that He might bring us to God.” (1
Peter 3:18)
Jesus, though God Himself, came as a
human to offer His life on the Cross
as payment for your sin. Through
Jesus, who suffered, and died, and
rose up from death, each of us can
find the solution to our sin
problem. And what’s more, through
Christ we can be adopted into God’s
family forever.
What an offer! What a gift! Has
anyone ever gone to so much trouble
to connect with you? Has anyone ever
died to keep you from dying an
eternal death? Nobody has because
nobody but Jesus could.
Will you accept His gift? As
powerful as God is, He will not
force Himself upon you. But if you
choose to connect with Christ, He
will connect you with His Father.
You see, "For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall
not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
To believe in Jesus Christ is to
believe He died for your sin and
rose up from the dead. To believe in
Jesus Christ is to accept Him as
your Savior. And this you can do
right now by turning to Him and by
talking to Him:
Forgive me Lord Jesus. I sin. It
has separated me from You. It has
left me empty and disconnected. I
believe You paid the penalty for my
sin. You suffered and died in my
place on the Cross. Please come into
my life. Fill me with Your presence.
Change me from the inside out. I
accept You as the only way to
connect with God the Father. Thank
you for this overwhelming gift of
forgiveness and connectedness to You
forever.
If you prayed this prayer and have
now made a connection with Christ as
your Savior, we would like to hear
from you. Please fill out this
simple information form so that we
can simply know about your new
connection and so that we can pray
for you and support you as you
embark on this new life.
