  • PrayerForce

  • What is the PrayerForce?
    • It is the intercessory arm of the Prayer Ministry. ("Intercessory" means prayer offered in behalf of another person.)
    • It a structure to connect those who need to be prayed for with those who are willing to pray.
    • It is an organized effort to mobilize a mighty army of prayer warriors at Sagemont Church.

  • Why is prayer important?
  • Prayer is foundational to the Christian life. Scripture admonishes us to "devote yourself to prayer." (Col 4:2) It is the way we communicate with our Creator. Relationships, whether human or divine, never grow apart from an investment in quality time in communication. Prayer is our opportunity for developing true intimacy with our Lord who desires fellowship.

God uses prayer to change our lives. The Bible commands us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17). Any believer can pray anywhere at any time. God loves His children so much that He gives them access to the most powerful thing in the church…prayer! No matter your age, health, location, situation…you can pray! The only prayer a non-Christian can pray is "Lord, I am a sinner, save me!" After this prayer, then the new believer can start to "snuggle up" to God in prayer.

  • What can it do for people?
  • The real question is not what "it" can do for people but…what He (Jesus) can do because of prayer. Prayer to the Christian is the same as oxygen is to the physical body. It is a must. When a Christian prays he begins to discover what John 10:10 means. Jesus said, "I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly!"

  • What can I expect if I sign up?
  • There are several branches of the PrayerForce. Everyone is encouraged to serve in at least one branch. Individuals that sign up will become part of an army of prayer warriors and begin to discover how God works, how He blesses, encourages, guides, helps, meets needs, etc. That is what God is all about!

  • How do I participate?
  • You may call the PrayerForce office (281-481-8770, ext. 2668) and get a brochure that will give you details about each branch of the PrayerForce. Then you simply sign-up. From time to time, there will be PrayerForce meetings that will be announced well in advance.

  • How do I pray for others?
  • Prayer is simply talking to our Lord. It is that simple! If you are a Christian, He is your heavenly Father and you just talk to HIM! If you want to receive the PrayerForce Mailbag (daily list of prayer requests), you may subscribe by clicking here.

  • What is a good prayer to say for other people?
  • If a person is not a Christian, pray "Lord, lead (name) to a saving knowledge of You." Most people have many needs. When we pray, we pray for their needs. If someone is sick, we pray for their healing, if they are going through a difficult situation we pray for that, etc.

  • What do you mean by "updates" and how are they vital?
  • An update is a current report on a certain prayer request. If you have read a request that "Bill is having knee surgery", the question would be, "How is he doing now?" An update is a report of Bill's current condition.

Updated information is provided so that you can pray more specifically. For example, if Bill is recuperating well and has gone home from the hospital, you would want to pray a prayer of thanks and praise. If Bill has had complications you will know to continue to pray for recovery.

  • "The earnest prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16

  • SERVICE & ACTIONS

  • Online Prayer Requests
  • The Prayer force has robust interactive prayer application available for you! Submit your prayer request on our PRAYER page.

  • Drive-Thru Prayer
  • This ministry is exactly what the title indicates. There are many small signs as well as a large “DRIVE-THRU PRAYER” banner directing folks where to go. After entering the property off of Hughes Road or the Beltway feeder they are met near the Cross by a volunteer with a big smile who says, “Hello, my name is _______, what’s yours?” Next the driver is asked, “What can I pray for you about?” The volunteer proceeds to offer prayer to God according to the need expressed. If more information is requested it will be provided in a loving and caring manner.

  • “Snuggle-up-to-God” Prayer Meetings
  • This is a prayer meeting held on Saturday mornings (8:30-11:30AM) and everyone (men, women, children) is invited. There will be no announcements, no agenda, no music… it is just all about JESUS and being still and “snuggling up to God”. It’s a time of praise, rejoicing, confession, accountability, peace and letting our LORD lead the meeting.
